Any reason not to use some heat from a torch to make it more pliable?

"not goinna go all the way with this bumper" now that is some comedy right there.

a more apropos title might be 'how to turn a mangled, rusty, unsafe bumper into a differently shaped mangled, rusty, unsafe bumper'. not sure the word "straighten" can be applied to this situation.

i enjoyed the claw hammer "dollying". the axle nut leverage point is _____________ (fill in the blank).

I completely disagree with you..

first off at least it is not a repop you touch a repop with your foot lightly and it gets dented.
A 5 pd sledge hammer would destroy a repro bumper..
test to see if its a german bumper use a 5 pd sledge hammer on it.

I did straighten that bumper out, its fairly straight once i get to welding in the patches on it and grinding and painting it . it will be like new..considering i was hitting that original with a 5 pd sledge hammer and it hardly dented it thats a pretty safe bumper once i have some 1/4 steel mounts welded onto it. it is going to be safe you'll see..

the bumper is straight not dragging against the ground anymore..now i gotta get the bus running again lets see how far i get on this bus..

i am pretty sure most folks have done that before..
how about you show me how to do it..I can bring the bumper over to your place to make that video.

I have just been doing similar to a less rusty late Bay bumper. And then welding up the thin bits.

The original bumpers are made out of 1.6mm/ 1/16" steel they are quite hard to bend, or straighten.

My bumpers suffered where the bumper brackets were packed solid with mud for years.

I hear they have come up with a new thing called editing so you can take a 25 minute video and cut it down to maybe three minutes or so.

Guys, don't make me do another cross-country trip to witness this. I won't want to replace another fan belt and camshaft.
