|
|
I've read a lot about blower issues, but I haven't come across one quite like what I'm experiencing.
My blower will turn on, but a minute or 2 later it will gradually slow down on its own a stop while the switch is still set to ON. If you cycle the switch OFF, then ON again, nothing happens. However, if I wait 3-5 minutes, the fan will turn back on--only to go through the same gradual slow-down-and-stop pattern again.
It doesn't squeak.
Any ideas? Ideas that don't involve removing the dash would also be greatly appreciated! _________________ '90 Westfalia GL Automatic |

mine did that for a while in the end it burnt out the switch due to excess power draw, I had to pull the fuse during a camping trip but believe on some motors it also runs the windscreen wipers.

Good info. So your symptoms were the same?....blower would come on, then eventually stop?
What was the culprit of the issue for your situation? Was the blower seizing due to bearing failure?
Thx! _________________ '90 Westfalia GL Automatic |

A motor that isn't turning or turning slower than it should be is going to draw way more amps, like 3+ times as much, so will be generating much more heat and if it is not spinning at all it is not going to be able to dissipate much heat all all so very soon the motor, switch, and maybe even the wiring is going to be toast.
The first time you realize that the motor isn't turning as fast as it should is the time you want to lube it. |
