Why/What ?
Brave the elements and come out to Marymoor Park for a Westy Show and Tell Meetup. The idea for this one is to tell the group a little about your van and perhaps some of the best mods or projects that you have made. Consider bringing some comfort food (chiili, soup, etc) to help you stay warm while we meet. The meeting is right before Halloween, so everybody should have a chance to talk about Westy projects and adventures without getting frozen.
When
Sunday Oct 27, 2019
12:00 PM
Location
Marymoor Park
6046 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy. N.E.
Redmond, WA 98052
How to find us
"Look for the Westies"
I've talked to the Marymoor Park people and we’ve been directed to meet on parking lot B by the soccer fields (same as last years' location) - see the park map at the following link.
https://your.kingcounty.gov/dnrp/library/parks-and...web_09.pdf
Also, in case you don't know, parking costs $1 in the park. Please, please, please, don’t forget to pay parking, I almost got into trouble one year because some people refused to pay parking.
Background
This is the ninth time we’re having this event (cannot believe we had a run this long, still having lots of fun!). We’ve had as low as 30 vans (2013) and more than 60 vans in 2014 (with 50 on 2015). In all those years everybody had a truly great time.

Last bump - weather has been kinda horrible in Seattle (usual for this time of the year) but the forecast for the weekend even calls for sun on Sunday!
My plans to install the lithium battery prior to the meetup were put on hold (kids sick) so I'll just browse around and peek into people's auxiliary battery setups to gather installation ideas. _________________ 87 Syncro Westy EJ25 ("Tardis")

Currently looking like 53 degrees and mostly sunny, I plan to be there.
Is it cool to bring a few parts to sell or give away (chrome bumpers, spare lenses, dometic fridge, stuff like that)? _________________ Grant

| The weather looks really good for sunday. Let's break some attendance records over the usual 30-40 vans. This is Vanagon country! |

Hopefully several diesels for me to check out...I need to learn more about what I have.
Its the only turbo diesel van I have ever looked at...and it just sits.

Thanks for getting the gang together pnwkayaker. It was a beautiful day in the park...
First time seeing this rig in-person. It’s a winner.
Nice aux. taillights...
Great idea for a tea drawer (I’m not a big tea drinker but my partner sure is. She would love this)..
One row of two rows of vans...
Feeling a bit inspired I stopped by Michaels VW on the way home and gave this Golf R a test drive. It’s faster than my van.

Finally great weather! Should have been more vans. I counted about 40+. Just when you seen every modification possible, there is someone who comes up with a "why didn't I think of that" alteration. Anyway, great to see multiple Vanagons in one spot.
The perfect sized bike for the front bumper. Owner says you put the front wheel in first and then lift the back end into place.
Two tricked out Vanagons. A lowered DOKA and the 2WD uber camper.
Inside there was a built in mini bar.
A GMC van in disguise managed to blend in.
A storage option for people in a hurry. The kitchen sink is in there somewhere

^^^ I was preoccupied with the lights and didn’t step back to include more bumper. It was a nice setup, esp. if one wants to keep the swing outs on the bumper. I have RMW swingouts mounted to the body and rs easy to see the benefits of a quality bumper mount. _________________ - Jim

Had a great time peeking into everyone's vans, managed to sell some bits and pieces I had sitting around the shop, and came home with a bigshot shifter for a very good price. Vanagon people are great as always! _________________ Grant
