Hi all

I have following question
I owe a '89 syncro 16". As far as i know standard springs and dampers. To store the sparewheel and other stuff i build myself a rack on the rear bumper. I actually made a mistake as i built it as one swing arm full width so its really heavy to move and cant hang without support when open

Also i wonder if it has not become to heavy over all.
I have a spare wheel, Hi lift jack, 20 ltrs of fuel, an alu box with some stuff in it (some spare oil, jump cables etc) and on top camping table and chairs.

But looking at some pics on the web i see people having a spare an 4 jerryt cans on the back which seems to be at least just as heavy.

The ride heigth at the rear is 17,5" when loaded like this and without all (incl rack) its 18,3"

So i wonder, am i ok like this or do i need heavier springs? I have searched the forum and the web but couldn't find anything conclusive

any advise, suggestion is welcomed

rgds

Ron

I'm not sure the trailer tongue weight translates directly to maximum bumper accessory weight.

I would be very concerned about blocking visibility to the tail lights.

In New York State, the tail lights and license plate must be visible or you can get a ticket.

Pack less junk. As a technician, I despise those racks. The last 3 vans in the shop had them. They make it next to impossible to work on. You can not open the rear hatch without swinging them all the way out. They have to stay there while you work so now you’ve got 3 foot crap wings you have to squeeze past. Then when the vans in the air, for sure your going to whack your head multiple times.

Can’t even imagine what traveling and camping is like with these contraptions.

Rant over.

Echo this, every word x10 ^^^^.

To the original question, judging by what I've seen, and marveled at, not in a good way either, the specification must be infinity.

Guys

actually i basically agree with Markward
like i said in the post, the design is not great. although it definitely proved its worth during our travels, when i need to do a big job on the engine i take the swing arm off

its the reason why im considering changing it or buy GW bumper and arms

tail lights are ok. It passes dutch regulation yearly and this one is strict

still anyone with some ideas on this
the total weight is around 100kg and as mentioned and loaded versus unloaded is a difference of about an inch in ride height. so what you think of the springs

Your not overloaded until the front wheels leave the ground.
Seriously, if you need all that stuff buy a trailer.

That's a classic! So much said is so few words. Well done!

My Syncro only has one 3 foot crap wing with just a spare tire. Very Happy
