|
|
Hello folks, I'm 95% done with my aux battery setup using a GW LiFePo4 battery and a Redarc DC-DC unit (built a panel behind the driver seat, spent way too many hrs on this) - I'll be using the stock aux battery location under the driver seat (BTW, I have swivel seats in my van).
However, I'm a little bit stumped on how to lock/hold the GW battery so it doesn't move around in the battery box. Lengthwise, it seems to be about 8 inches shorter than the battery box, and widthwise, about 3/4" narrower too, so it can slide around fairly easily.
I was hoping to use the original battery bracket to hold the battery in place, but the battery seems to be a little bit too tall, such that the bracket doesn't fit correctly.
Any ideas on how to lock the battery in place? Any other GW battery owners have installed the battery in the stock battery location?
I could create some sort of spacers using wood on the length side of the battery to try to hold it in place (and a piece of plywood on the width side too) but that seems to be a redneck/amateurish solution.
Thanks in advance for the input! _________________ 87 Syncro Westy EJ25 ("Tardis")

My van was missing the bracket on the starter battery. I just took a piece of 1" webbing and screwed it down tight into the sides across the top of the box, it works. I do strongly recommend checking clearances on the expansion tank however as I now have a JB Weld patch on mine where I screwed into the side of it a little bit. In other words, use the shortest self-tapping screw possible. On the driver's side, you could go front to back instead of side to side and I think you would not have to worry about this. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. Super cool, thanks for the link, it says it's only for non-swivel seats, but I think it should also work for swivel seats if I don't actually swivel my seat (which I usually never do).
Unfortunately, they're sold-out right now, but it's giving me some ideas (need to think)- thanks!
