Hello,

We have an old Beetle that's been sitting in this garage for at least 20 years. I remember when I was a young boy probably around 10-11 it getting moved in to this garage and I am 32 now.

I am very into VW diesels, they are the only cars I've ever wrenched on and driven my whole life, but I don't know anything about the early air cooled VW's.

This will be a bit of a learning process for me to get this thing dug out and identified and see what it is and what we want to do with it. My dad thinks he has some papers on it somewhere, but haven't really looked too hard yet.

Here is a video of it where it sits.

Cool, good luck on the extraction.
Looks to be a 60-63.

Militia nailed it- '60- to early '63 only. I wish I could have seen a better shot of the dash to verify a grab handle. But so far, if it's not there, Sharp64's got the first correct specific response.

I'm gonna say later model too. Much easier to change a hood than a window opening. The top of the quarter between the glass and gutter looks quite thin!

Looks like it has 64 and earlier doors by the fat window surrounds and upright wing windows, but big quarter windows 65+ to me.

At 1:04 you can get a good look at the right side vent window which appears to be vertical (not angled) so my guess is '64 or earlier.

Looking at the garage video, it may take him a couple of weeks to clear a path to get to it. Lol

Wow lots of positive responses and speculation haha, yall are great.

I found out this Beetle was purchased new from Clarence Talley VW in downtown Dallas by my grandpa, who was the original and sole owner.

My grandparents were kind of hoarders and my dad got a bit of it as well, so it is a time consuming process getting this garage cleaned out.

We are trying to clean it out to make room for a bunch of my other VW diesel projects and cars, which is what I hoard. Laughing

That video posted above was taken this past Sunday and we have made some progress this week - I will post another video soon and some pictures.

Well we found the title and some paperwork - for everyone who guessed early '60 - '63 and '60 specifically you are correct!

It is a 1960 - here is a picture of the title.

Also found these original VW fuses in a blister pack while cleaning the garage - don't know how rare they are, but thought it was neat.
