In the Type 3 mailing list someone asked about the heater vent flaps so I decided I would CAD them up and post them here. I will print out the parts tonight and see how accurate they are and I will sell them if they come up good. Any other parts that are NLA that could be 3D printed that there would be interested in? Here are some pictures and dimensions. First the metal flap, I just realized I forgot to put the curve on the one edge
Then the plastic clip, I added the part number to it

Ya, those three dash vent plastic tubes would be really nice to have..
Almost always rotten and crusty by now.
I have some i could send you.
Except,
Like with that heater flap,
Best be sure it will survive the heat.. _________________ Bus Motor Build

I’m going to the junkyard this week and there is a 70 Squareback I could get the vent tubes off of. The ones on my Square are also in good shape.
When I installed the piece after 3D printing, it fit and worked well, but I’m definitely wondering if after getting the heater up to temp if I will have a melted blob I will ad some pictures. Either way there is at least a good CAD file now for the part. _________________ 1964 sunroof Beetle Restoration "Herbie"

Seat belt material works so much better for that Mike. It folds flat, and doesn't get brittle in the sun. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

When making patch panels and metal parts like that, I do them in CAD (Cardboard Aided Design). It works for a lot of smaller flat stuff. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Seriously,
I was just up in the attic looking for other stuff and found those three plastic heater duct pieces that go up under the dash.
These being from the beginning until 71 or so..
If you’re into doing this,
I’ll send you the set of three.
They are going to be pretty tricky with hollow and curves and all.
These are getting precious, so be for real..

There are a lot of ads looking for them on facebook!
I'd never sell mine. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

It would be interesting to see if you could scan the heater duct parts. For printing them I would think you would have to thicken up the wall of the part so it could print easier and not break.
For the Squareback seat handle, ISP west has them for sale, but they are NOS and would likely fall apart quick. But I don’t know if a hard plastic handle would work great. _________________ 1964 sunroof Beetle Restoration "Herbie"

I like to use a section from a 1" tie-down strap. Same idea as yours, just a little narrower. _________________ 1968 Regatta Blue Squareback |

How would you scan the inside surface? Maybe take the scan of the outside and scale it down slightly to represent the inside?
