Hi guys, I need some seat resto advice?
I am recovering the front seats of a 66 Ghia and want to avoid what I call the “skin and bone” look around the edges where the chair frame shows prominently and vinyl seems to dip downwards (see photos).
I wonder what extra material to use and where to position it etc. when assembling the seats (so everything looks smooth and well padded)
LMK if you’ve had any experience with this?
Thanks
Russell

I've added extra padding to the top of the seats but the areas you are pointing out are basically expansion/contraction areas from when someone is sitting in the seat or not. Padding or filling that area would be difficult to make it look right since it would constantly being squished and expanded. Also any extra material added in those areas would make it that much harder to stretch the seat cover over the frame. _________________ 1970 Pastel White Westfalia

I used the TMI pads from Jbugs. the tmi covers I had were definitely tight if not too tight. I did get some thin foams and spray 77 in case it was saggy and the bolsters I have on mine nicely accented. didnt need em. |
