Can anyone recommend any upgrades/ tune ups to the air cooled 83 Vanagon which noticeably improves performance/ engine function and is not too complicated to install/ i can do myself (plus doesn't break the bank).

Thanks H

Looks like you are in the UK. Are you running the original Solex dual carburetors or is this a fuel injected model?

Nothing will make a noticeable difference in performance unless it's running really poorly. Check the plugs, boots, cap, fuel lines, injectors and o-rings, and Vacuum lines. Take the throttle body off, clean and, inspect

I had an aircooled and at its best it's still pretty slow. However, mine was much more enjoyable to drive after I gave it a full tune up, fresh injectors, plugs, etc. and generally got everything working the way it was supposed to run. It doesn't have any spare horsepower to lose, but if you can get them all together is an enjoyable thing to drive.
