First you'll need to disassemble the door handle.

Then, you'll need to remove a tiny jewelers screw that holds the key lock into the handle

Once that screw is removed, the key lock portion will easily slide out of the handle body

The Brass wafers (tumblers) can then be easily pushed out & replaced

You double-posted this so I pasted in your text below with my answer:
Quote:
I don't see a thread for how to take the '56 ~ '59 door handles apart, I need to replace the spring and re key it to match my original SG ignition .

Any links would be highly appreciated, I've been searching 'door key', 're key', door handle key', on and on.....

Once you've done it a few times re keying isn't difficult, it's just one more fiddly detail oriented job best done over a white or light colored towel as small parts tend to fall, bounce or PING off into God alone knows what other universe .

TIA, I'm sure someone has done this before .

Bus handle spring replacement thread below, I think they are the same?

Lock cylinder removal, there's a tiny screw once it's apart:

The cross-pin? It comes right out with a little punch (preferred) or a screwdriver.

I've had some that only come out 1-way so if it doesn't start moving, try the other side. Smile
