This starter was never installed. Auto stick shift starters have 25% more torque than the manual shift starters and have a cranking speed of 255 RPM on a new 1600 engine. Auto stick shift starters are built with four brushes, manual shift 12V starters have two brushes, which wear out twice as fast.
Many new and Rebuilt starters are not tested and may fail when installed in your VW. Do you want to spend the time and money to return a failed starter or buy one that was tested? How much fun do you have removing a rebuilt starter that you just installed to return it for another one that may not work.
