If you have been wishing you could do your own tuneups on your VWs, but are stopped by the high price of the tools to do it, here's you chance to get your own high quality timing light. This one is priced to sell quickly, shipping included, to someone working on a budget in the US.
This is an early Sears/Penske timing light. I picked it up for cheap, not working, at a swap meet, thinking that I could probably fix it and pass it on to someone who could use it. I replaced a bad alum electrolytic capacitor with something more reliable and now it works perfectly. I used this same model for years and was happy with it, until Sears/Penske put their inductive pickup version on sale. Then I sold my older model to someone who is probably still using it.
Note that this model does NOT have the inductive pickup, but this does not alter its utility. It is also not one of the types that claims to measure advance: a feature that just tends to get people in trouble. The housing is very nice chrome plated metal, with a hard rubber "nose." The cables show that they are used, but they are in good condition and will serve you well.
It comes in the original box with the original Sears manual. It will give years of good service for someone who needs a good timing light to work on their own VWs.
