1968 VW Bus OBO Price: $22995
|
I bought this 1968 Volkswagen Bus approximately 15 years ago and used as a promotional vehicle for my business, adding 50k of its 71k miles shown. My mechanic fully rebuilt the engine when I initially bought it and kept up with regular tune ups religiously which I have all the receipts for. Runs like a champ! It is powered by an air-cooled 1.6L flat-four that has been fitted with dual-port cylinder heads and is paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. The bus has been refinished in blue with a white roof and bumpers over beige and black vinyl upholstery. Additional details include 14″ steel wheels, drum brakes, a JVC CD stereo, an extended capacity oil sump, and a merged header exhaust system with a quiet pack muffler. This Volkswagen Bus is now offered with a jack, repair manuals, spare parts, and a clean California title in my name.
The bus received a replacement right rocker panel before being repainted blue with a white roof and bumpers. Exterior details include dual side-view mirrors, quarter vent windows, crescent-shaped air intakes, and a sliding door on the right. There is only one windshield wiper installed, and images detailing the condition of the exterior are provided in the gallery below.
Black-finished 14″ steel wheels wear chrome VW-stamped hubcaps and are mounted with 195-series Hankook RA08 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.
The front cabin features low-back bucket seats trimmed in beige vinyl joined by a black dashboard pad, door panels, and carpeting. Interior details include a body-colored steel dashboard, hand-crank windows, and a JVC CD stereo. The factory ignition is inoperative, the vehicle is started using a push-button installed by my mechanic.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 90-mph VDO speedometer, a fuel level gauge, and warning lights. An inoperative oil temperature gauge is mounted below the dashboard. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 71k miles, approximately 50k of which were added during my ownership on the rebuilt engine.
The rear cabin features a rear bench seat trimmed in torn black leatherette joined by color-coordinated side panels and carpeting.
The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four has been fitted with dual port heads and is equipped with a single downdraft carburetor, a degree pulley, an extended capacity oil sump, and a merged header exhaust system with a quiet pack muffler.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. The transaxle leaks a small amount of fluid.
I just recently fixed two rust spots. The original painter replaced the metal in the two areas and repainted the repaired sections. I have photos of the work as well as have more photos and videos I'll will email with link since I can only post 9 on here.
Let me know any questions and I'd be happy to answer! :)
