Semaphore 12-6V Dropping Resistor on Heatsink Price: $62 shipped
|
If your Bus or Bug is 12V and you want to use your original 6V semaphores, connect this resistor in the circuit. Your semaphores will then see exactly the same voltage as if your car was still 6V.
I have designed this assembly to be an easy installation. All you do is mount it at the top of the cowl support bracket by the speedo with an M6x20 screw in a Beetle, or to the horizontal cross member that is up above your knees in a bus, then connect the wires in series in the circuit before the semaphore switch.
I machined the aluminum heat sink and attached the resistor with two socket head screws. Between the resistor and the heat sink is electrical thermal conducting paste. The leads on the resistor are soldered then covered with heatshrink tubing. The other ends of the leads are tinned so you can clamp them in your set screw type wire connectors.
