1966 Westfalia SO42 Camper, Original Paint Driver! Price: Sale Pending
|
1966 Westfalia SO42 Hardtop Camper Bus, Original Paint!
This Dove Blue Westfalia was ordered for Tourist Delivery by the original owner, Mr. Charles H. Foster, who we believe owned the Bus for approximately 36 years. He took delivery in Munich, Germany, on October 4, 1965, proceeded to travel throughout Europe, making stops in Rotterdam and the UK, and had it shipped back home to the USA.
Some of the features to note include:
*Mostly Original Dove Blue Paint
*Mostly Original Westfalia Interior
*1776cc Engine
*Full Length Roof Rack and Accessory Ladder
*Bay Window Tent, front screen zipper is broken
*BFGoodrich Offroad Tires
*California Black License Plates registered to the Bus
*Spare H Case 1500cc Core Engine and Spare Parts included in sale!
*Loads of Documents including Owner's Manual, SO42 Westfalia Booklet, Tourist Delivery paperwork, Warranty Booklet, Original Dealer Service Booklet, service receipts, both Original VW-headed Witte Keys, etc. included in sale.
*Original Tool Roll, and a bonus Reproduction Tool Roll, you get both!
The body is in very good shape for an original paint survivor. Approximately 90% of the paint is original with just a few spots having been blended along the way. Some normal welding was performed by well-respected Bus specialist, Keith Usher, including the cargo rocker, short rocker behind the cargo doors, the outer edge of the cargo floor, a bit on an outrigger and jackpoints, and a couple other tiny spots. Overall the Bus is remarkably straight, solid, and has a killer natural patina look, too.
The interior is impressively nice and original for a now 60-year-old, mostly original, survivor Westfalia. Details to note include the original mustard cushions, excellent reproduction plaid curtains, beautiful original paint dash and cab, and original paneling as well.
Mechanically the Bus is a good driver and we have loads of action video clips that will be shared on our Instagram page, @holygrailgarage , can be texted to seriously interested parties at (858)366-2549, or sent via WhatsApp at Brendan Finn (858)366-2549. The engine is a 1776cc with a 2 barrel carb, a Bosch 009 distributor, and a header exhaust. Other features include a big nut reduction box transaxle, stock brakes and suspension, BFGoodrich offroad tires mounted on 15 inch Bus wheels, and a 12 volt electrical system, too.
Overall this is a solid, respectable, and very enjoyable patina Westfalia with a lot of originality still intact. It can continue to be enjoyed as it is or improved upon if that suits your tastes. Thanks!
SALE PENDING!
Please note this Westfalia is located in Santa Cruz, California.
