Freshly rebuilt by S&S Performance with all the right upgrades.
This is NOT just a bare long block - it comes with new AMC heads, GW stainless steel exhaust kit, and all the accessories needed for complete turnkey install. Built with care and quality German components.
Rebuild details:
- Polished & resized rods, balanced rotating assembly.
- New German camshaft with hydraulic lifters.
- Rod journals ground to STD, crank balanced.
- Balanced flywheel (resurfaced).
- 2 x new AMC heads - complete with valves, springs, keepers.
- Stainless pushrods, new valve springs.
- Reconditioned rocker assemblies.
- German OEM gasket set included.
- New oil pump, new water pump.

Side note:
This engine was taken out of my 86 Vanagon for a Subaru swap.
I had the engine rebuilt by S&S to install in another van I was purchasing but sell fell through.
Decided not to look for another van and let this engine go to new home.
I bought my 86 with this engine (original to the van) in 2020.
The engine had 90K original miles at that time and I put another 60K miles on it.
Developed crack in head and rather than fix, I decided to do Subby swap.
