1966 Westfalia SO42 Walkthru Survivor, OG Paint! Price: Sale Pending

1966 Westfalia SO42 Walkthru Survivor, Original Paint, Rack, Tent, Child's Cot, Manuals, and 119,000 Original Miles!
This gorgeous Pearl White Westfalia Camper was born on January 6, 1966, was delivered to the USA, and features an export code of "UK" which denotes "USA, Reserve". It has had a few long term owners in its lifetime, and it has survived exceedingly well over the last nearly six decades. The current owner is a well-respected advanced collector and this Bus has been in his collection for the last 14 years.

The body and paint on this 1966 is very nice for an unrestored survivor. Strong, thick, and shiny original paint throughout with the exception of the long side panel, the bumpers, and the wheels, all of which were painted years ago. All of the doors, decklid, rear apron, both pointed end bumpers, the 14 inch Bus wheels, are correct for the Bus and original, too. The floors are strong testimony that this Bus has been well looked after, clean, straight, dry, unmolested, about as good as you could ever hope to find. The rockers and undercarriage are further proof of quality and the maturity of the owners this Westfalia has had. There are several black plugs in the door jambs that lead us to believe it was treated to a Ziebart/Waxoyl treatment that injects a waxy goo into the voids in the body to keep corrosion away.
The interior is very accurate, remarkably original, clean, and ready to camp in. Most everything inside is original with the exceptions of the curtains, front seat upholstery, cab door panels, and some of the rubber beading on the rear tables. A pair of shoulder harness seat belts were added many years ago, still function, and add a little safety for driving on modern roads.

The engine is a stock 1500/1600cc single port, it is not the original to the Bus, and it runs nicely. The transaxle is the stock original reduction box setup, all stock suspension, stock brakes, and factory 6 volt electrical system, and a fresh set of Hankook Vantra 185R14C 8 radial tires were installed last year and have approximately 1,000 miles on them. The owner drove the Bus out to Buses By The Bridge and camped in it in 2024 and commented that it "Ran great", too.
Overall this is an exceptionally nice survivor Bus, never abused, always well-looked-after, as dry as you could hope to find these days, and straight from a collection of truly impressive cars! Thanks!
