1982 Vanagon Westfalia ****Nice - A Beauty! Price: 24900

So our goal with this build was to get this Vanagon to a point were it was super reliable and fun.
When we bought it, we were told everything mechanically was done to it. And it wasn't – they lied to us.
So we had to re-do everything to get it right and safe to drive. The last thing anyone wants is to be broken down on vacation somewhere remote. I wanted it reliable for my wife and kid to go anywhere.
We have spent way over the asking amount.
Mechanical 2 years or newer:
We chose to go stock to keep it simple and for any mechanic to work on and to have parts readily available
-Rebuilt engine Only (500 miles on it)
-Rebuilt transmission (Manual 4 speed)
-New Axles front and rear
-New brakes
-New wheel bearings (all four)
-New alternator
-New Starter
-New spark plugs
-New clutch
-New Battery
-New Rear shocks
-K&N Oil and Air Filter
-New Catalytic Converter for California $900
-Blazecut Style Fire Suppression System sits above engine stopping any fire type issue
-Oil cooler fan - only comes on if it engine oil gets too hot
- and more JUST PASSED SMOG AND HAD ITS FIRST 500 MILE OIL CHANGE - AND REGISTRATION IS PAID

Added:
-Remote start alarm so it can't be started/stolen
-Boss touch screen stereo with Apple/Play Android / Bluetooth and (Backup Camera)
-Small hidden safe bolted under bench seat in for personal items
-Mosquito netting screen inserts for back and side door with zipper opening
-Car cover with zippers for doors so you can get into with out taking off cover
-Plug in air conditioner/swamp cooler, just add ice and to cooler will blow cold air - portable
-Extending ladder for getting up into pop-top
-Updated VW Weekender captain chairs/front seats with arm rests
-New locks and keys, wipers, antenna, H4 headlights, spotlights on front bumper
-New Land Rover side mirrors
-South African grill with round lights
-Hard to find dash console organizer and glove box organizer
-New seat belts in front driver and passenger
-New door (marine) speakers, new rear speakers
-100 Watt solar panel with roof mounted cargo basket
Interior: - We kinda have a beach theme going -
We left the inside stock, curtains, sink, bed, cabinets
Repainted cabinets with blue chalk paint with three layers of protective wax - Helps dirt comes of really easy
-New waterproof wood look vinyl flooring
-Removed stock refrigerator - didn't work - and converted area to storage
-Rusty Propane tank removed and converted to small easy to use propane bottles from inside
Exterior
-New three window canvass for the pop top
-New Yokohama BLUEARTH-Van All Season RY61 in 195/70R15C 104/102T D tires
with Go Westy 15" Mercedes style rims [Best size for the gears and Axel]
[Adding too big of rim and tire will slow van down and make it work harder adding strain to components]

What doesn't work:
The heater worked too well so we had it turned off by Luis of SAB Imports from underneath the Vanagon.
The dash vent switch/control arm in the dash didn't work when we got - can be repaired. We just didn't need it or do it.
We don't know exactly how many miles is on it, could be off by 10k but we fixed the speedometer and everything is new it might not matter too much
For its age the body is in pretty good condition, its not perfect some small dents here and there, a slight fading in the back slider area and some small rock chips in front but for Original 1982 paint its not too bad
