| Rather than get the original vanagon hall,, with the tiny wires, and sensor/pickup mounted 180 degrees from the plug,, get the jetta/passat/golf hall pick up. it doesn't have the wires inside the dist to get chopped up by the hall rotor, and one MIGHT be able to replace that pickup in the future without disassembling the whole distr. |

I'm running an aftermarket distributor and hall sensor from GoWesty and intend to renew the hall sensor in my original distributor. I'm interested in the Golf/Jetta/Passat hall pick up, especially if they are more affordable than the Vanagon units. Can you provide a bit information on this? I reviewed the FAQ and did a search, but couldn't locate any details. |

Hold the phone, dabaron. The first response he got was from me mentioning the Hall system. But you are right that I also focused on other stuff, because I thought he was getting spark. Never did hear if he could smell gas. Anywho, It's solved and I also learned about VanCafe's $53 dollar Hall replacement which I will definitely get to rebuild my failed dizzy.

Rumor has it that the tranny was sold to Dave for north of 4 and the rest of the car was free. If Matt Steele sold someone a tranny for that price and it failed after a couple of years, he would make good on it. (Sarcasm, in case anyone missed it,)

Well.....back on topic.
My Van is indeed fixed.
Took it to work, a trip that often has two or three stalling issues.
Screaming hot day, not one stall, stutter or cut out.
It apparently was the hall pickup in the distributor.
I ordered a replacement from VanCafe, when that arrives I'll put it in my original distributor and reinstall it.
I now will have a known good spare distributor to carry.
During this process I confirmed that .......
A) My spare coil is good
B) My spare ECU is good
C) My spare distributor is going to be good
D) My AFM isn't bad and now has the Vanagon Syndrome resistor installed.
E) New spark Plugs are installed
F) There is zero water in my fuel
G) My fuel system is pumping both volume and pressure
H) I now own a NOID tester
