The efi mexican beetle fuel pump solves the problem of a return line connection without a T fitting or fitting a return to the tank. It also works as a surge tank.

What about those metal fuel filters with a return line outlet? Still lets the carbs dead end but will bypass any air/vapor letting it return to the tank. Works well in curing vapor lock. |
I totally forgot about those until a few weeks ago. I was watching one of those Roadkill/Dirt everyday spin-offs and I guess that type of filter is a good fix for flat fender jeeps with the go-devil engines that suffer from chronic vapor locking _________________ Beetle, Ghia, Vanagon Syncro, and more |

Return line goes into a T with pump out the left side and supply towards the top. Just want to confirm this was a dumb way to plumb this before I take it all apart.
Thanks |
Yes - dumb!
why would you even need a return line for carburetor/s? Can you at least let us know if you plumbed the suction side versus pressure side correctly on the pump? |

Just my thoughts on this. You want the return in another location in the tank because you want fresh cooler fuel. If you keep it like you have it, the fuel will get hot being constantly recycled back to the engine. |

Pressure side of pump goes to a fuel regulator then to the carburetors. This is the return line out of the regulator. The fuel system was installed by a well known and reputable builder in AZ but had the soft lines removed prior to me buying the car. |

Any chance you have a link to an example of a filter like that? |
