How many headliner bows (or rods) would my 1957 23-window have? Most of the headliner was gone when I got the bus. I tried searching, and found lots of discussion about installation, but not much about the hardware.

My bus had 3 short bows in the remnants of the headliner, and one attached to the rear section of the roof. I had stashed everything away 18 years ago when I disassembled it all, but today I'm not sure if I have all of the parts.

Here's the single bow that I have that isn't part of the sunroof. It seems to fit that space, and has a 90° bend on one end.

The reason I'm unsure is I had a front roof clip from an early 60's standard, and it had a very small bow on either side of the air box; I kept those two before I gave it away, but I don't see where they would go on the '57. This thread says there's only one bow https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=779241 but it didn't feel authoritative.

I'm pretty certain it's just that one between the sunroof and the rear hatch, not counting the shorter rods in the sunroof headliner.

Hello Thom,

there is only one tunnel for a bow in the headliner (near to the luggage-compartment-door). The distance is approx 60cm from the sunroof-opening:

This is not an original headliner. I will try to find additional photos.
