I’ve installed a NOS Bosch alternator without internal regulator. I understand I need a regulator but they all say they work with dc. Simple question is if a Bosch 30019 will work with this alternator.

No, that regulator is for a generator, not your alternator.

Here's a new Bosch regulator that's the same as what VW installed in cars that came with that alternator:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2268380

This is the regulator Motorola makes:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2739491

I have the same alternator in my car and was using the Bosch regulator until last year when the regulator stopped working. To get my car going again, I had one of the Motorola regulator, so I put that in, thinking I would change it out later. It has been working fine for the past year.

I see a Bosch

https://www.energyparts-shop.com/en/fiche/10695/regulator-bosch-0192062006 For roughly 600 USD

And a MAGNETI MARELLI 940016000200 for a fraction of the price, like 30 USD.

Any advice?

Mike, I have very similar alternator in my buggy:

Been using using Bosch 0190 600 017 voltage regulator flawlessly for decades, like these:

I believe that 3-prong plug is the same one used on the brake master cylinder switches.
https://www.westcoastmetric.com/i-22964287-111-525.html?q=brake+switch+plug
https://www.westcoastmetric.com/i-22969109-113-515.html?q=brake+switch+parts

The female terminals are the standard 1/4" female locking terminals common on VW plugs. Here is an example. These are cheap and may not last a long time. But you can get an idea what they look like.
https://www.amazon.com/Baomain-Female-Terminals-connector-insulated/dp/B01MFEDLM4/

There are 3 wires running between the 3-prong plug and the eternal VR.
    D+ = red
    D- = brown
    DF = green

Depending on your VR it will have a 3-prong or 4-prong plug. Even if the VR has 4-wires running to the 4-prong plug only three wires are used.

Since you are in the market for a new VR for your alternator... I will point you to this thread... Ford regulator on VW alternator? It works!!!

You can also check w/ your local parts house and see if they can source parts for a '74 VW Beetle. The earlier cars in this model year came with AL-78 alternators that had the external VR. My local FLAPS lists the black 4-wire VR as in stock. I think you are located in Sweden so I don't know how hard it is to get old car parts from the parts store?

Yes. One end in purple circle, other end is under acorn nut on top of alternator. It's sort of redundant, but I put it in anyway because... Over the years, whenever I've separated alternator from it's stand (both of which are OG parts from a 1973 bug), their meeting surfaces have been cover'd with what's been call'd "white chit" (an oxide, a result of corrosion). I suspect the white stuff could adversely affect ground connection. On the other hand, there's already a stock brown wire running between the 3-prong alternator connector and voltage regulator to make sure they both see the same ground level.

Here's the post from back when ashman40 convinced me to put in additional ground:
