1974 super beetle, dual port 1600. Found a broken wire (from a capacitor?), and it appears the female end was plugged to the positive side of the alternator. what could this be? hunting down a replacement.

You may not need it. Are you running an original AM radio?

Or does your radio make a whing, or clicking through the speakers? If not I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks! sounds like I don't need it. Original AM radio isn't hooked up. if/when I install a new radio, I'll look to replace it or just leave it as-is. I don't really listen to AM radio nowadays.
