I picked up this dash grille from a parts stash almost a year ago, and just now I realized it might be a little different. Looking at the various pics of Moto Meter gauges and grilles, I see one slight difference. Check out the bottom left three slots on mine compared to others. Any ideas? Is this grille meant for a different brand, or was it just a different production run?
VDO?
Moto Meter? Can't see the left side slots in this pic.
Mine, with embossed edge around the circular opening, and thicker on the right border...

For a 3-in-1.
Single gauge
What size is your hole?
Looks like they made a bunch - IF the panels came w/ those gauges.

ID of the hole is approximately 60mm. The embossed ridge is about 1.5-2mm wide so that diameter is around 64mm. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

I happened to be looking at gauges too - I think the first pic I posted must be another manufacturer, or maybe very late in production... most of the ones that say 'original' have the first three slots increasing in size rapidly. Exponentially vs. logarithmically? Dunno, I failed statistics.
Another one with the slots rapidly increasing height.
EDIT - looking at slots, a lot of these look like if you flipped them the slots are 'correct.' I wonder if someone made a backwards mold, either at a competitor to avoid litigation, or just a tired stamper maker at Motometer?
I'd PM someone with lots of collectible knowledge like restojohnny and see what they say. _________________ Craig K

They also made them with no consideration for aesthetics at all! No contour in the slots at all.
