Doing some basic maintenance on a lazy day, I pulled off the rear taillight lense to check on a faulty blinker bulb.

Didn't know that the lenses were two separate pieces, LOL. Found a couple of replacements near by, should have them in hand soon.

Luckily the light bulb started working again after cleaning up the bulb housing and the contacts.

Turns out the driver’s side taillight lense is in worse shape, so I sourced a replacement locally.

Here’s the replacement lense as purchased.

And after a quick buff.

And finally installed on the pickle. It’ll do for now.

My throttle return spring is currently attached to one of the distributor cap side clamps, I know that can't be factory.

I've found some throttle return spring brackets for sale, thinking about grabbing one, but not exactly sure how/where it is mounted. I'm guessing to the top of the block somehow.

Anybody have a decent picture of one in place on the engine?

Forgive the image as my engine does not have the factory FI setup anymore. That bracket mounts with the AAR. I have it mounted to a block off plate in the same fashion. Hope this helps.

When you find Type 3 parts that you need in the area you're working in, you stop and grab them, even when your work vehicle is a Toyota Corolla.

Front bumper in amazing shape complete with rubber strip and near perfect chrome plating. Plus a front beam assembly with bump-stops intact, just incase I decide to swap it out later.

Seller was happy to take payment in the form of a 30-pack of Coors Light, which I can respect.

Ya gotta love chrome plating from the time before the EPA snowflakes messed it all up. It’s cleaning up nicely. Next step is to clean up the small amount of surface rust inside the bumper, then coat it with a converter/protector combination.

That bumper really cleaned up nice. I agree with about the chrome plating of yesteryear, it was so much better.

Got it out of the garage and rolled around the block as it began to get dark.

All lights/signals functioning properly, except for the license plate light. I’ll have to trace the wiring, as I know the fixture and bulbs function properly since I took it out and cleaned it all up.

Throttle return bracket installed. Had to flip the bolt around at the intake to position the spring correctly, guess the P.O. or his mechanic had it on wrong?

Definitely better than when the spring was attached to the clamp on the distributor cap.

Question: Does the throttle pedal have some sort of return spring inside the cabin? Guessing I'll need a new cable, but the pedal tends to stick at about 20% depressed without springing all the way back.

Only a very weak spring that keeps the pedal itself pressed against the roller. It puts negligible tension on the cable.
