				| Hi all, I just purchased this script and was hoping someone could help me date this or tell me if it was a dealer option or if it came on some kind of special edition beetle. I could not find anything on it on sebeetles.com. Thanks

 | I've seen one of those before... once. So maybe it is pretty rare?

				| This is by no means an answer, just some conjecture. In the late 60s-early 70s one of the big East Coast VW Performance companies was an outfit called Motion Minicar. They did their advertising with a race car called the Thunder Bug. Wondering if they ever came up with a lightning bolt emblem for one of their production kits? If I have time, I'll root through the two old catalogs of theirs I have and see if there's anything in them. | |

				| I believe that the Lightning Bug Script was a Dealer Accessory, perhaps exclusive with the Volkswagen Atlantic Distributorship for Pennsylvania and Delaware. I remember having these in stock when I was a VW Dealer Parts Manager in Pennsylvania. I'd guess that they were from 1970. I had a NOS one from back then and picked up another at a swap meet at Lehigh Valley VW in Allentown, Pa. probably mid-70s. | |
