tom simon and b ramsey,,, i appreciate knowing that i have stirred up some really cool, historical, and incredibly popular (in the vw world at least-- hondas and toyotas do not have TRUE, REAL AND INCREDIBLY INNOVATIVE heros or icons) like we, *vw people, have. it is a shame to go to theese import events, witness things like literally hundreds of thousands of people, espn, huge vendor displays, and all the excitement of the nhra and so on,, all to experience these cars running blistering times of 6, 7, 8,, 9 second cars,,, which is cool.... dont get me wrong,, but, the mass majority of the spectating audience has no idea of OUR contribution to the "import cash cow"... i mean that,,, WE WERE RACING FIRST! WAAAAY EARLIER THAN DATSUN/NISSAN, MAZDA, TOYOTA AND THE LIKE.. AND THAT WE WERE DOING IT WITH 40 HORSE MOTORS.. NO VTEC , OR ANY OF THAT "FRONTWHEELDRIVEWITHWHEELIEBARSANDSKINNYREARTIRESANDFATSLICKSONTHEFRONTCRAP".....
THEY *IMPORT PEOPLE, have no freaking clue of what a little racecar straped to the roofrack of a early 60s bug called "littlebutfast" is all about... they can keep their cold air intakes,, and their full surround sound, earthQUake bass, race engine, sitting 4 deep inside the car with the windows rolled up while they are "chillen" in the staging lanes at a race... who wants to do that? i mean fun is waiting like 2 hours to make a pass, in the heat.....
ooh my bad,, i went on a wild tangient...
but as i was saying , thanks tom simon and also bramsey for "backing my story up"... and i will try to get the pics scanned from todd.....
peace out |

yep. i was a second slower than the Inch Pincher. was lots of fun racing against chevys and such. we used a lot of home made stuff back then,as not many companies were into fabbing stuff for vw's. i bought as much berg stuff that i could get my hands on . a hurst could be had cheap. broke some nose cones. _________________ Admin note: Bill Passed away - July, 2017

I re-read this part of the story again, and here is what I can make out of that sentence... Randy Ingrasoll of a desert community in California did own the Inch Pincher III at one time, which is a 1953 Split Window (as Dave mentioned), and he does own a red stretched single cab with real Fuchs. Now, Randy never sold this car to Todd and Mike, or at least it was never repainted, street raced and crashed, as it still remains today, totally original with all of the original paint and lettering. Prior to this, the car was bought and sold a few times, Kris Klingaman owned it, and it sat at BFY for years, and ended up in Florida for years as well (Kevin Jeanette), until Gino Garcia puchased it and sold it to Flat 4 in Japan (as Dave mentioned as well), where it is today. |
ahh, randys flatbed, takes me back to my old Pomona swap meet days.
Funny because I just scanned the pic the other day with Rich50's split on the back.
