I've never pulled off the door panels but I'd like to work on my vent rubber...Will I need any new clips to replace the panel or are the clips reusable? Just want to make sure I order what I need beforehand... _________________ 1967 Lotus White Beetle

Clips are reusable. There are a couple different kinds but reusable all the same. Its an easy task. _________________ -OstKüste-

Door panel clips are available from vendors (here's the ones at Wolfsburg West). Occasionally, the original ones break during removal, so it's nice to have a few extras.
You might also get new grommets/seals for the holes where the door panel clips attach. They get brittle and tear easily.
When you remove the panel, be careful to not tear the panel. I use a putty knife wrapped with electrical tape so as not to scratch the paint. Push the putty knife between the panel and door were a clip is and gently pry the panel off (do not use a twisting motion). The putty knife distributes the force against the panel, thus reducing the possiblity of tearing the panel board. Once you get all the panel clips removed, you'll need to hold the upper part of the panel away from the door and pull up slightly. The armrest has a clip that slips over a bracket on the door to give the armrest strength. You need to slip the panel upward to get it off the bracket. Holding the top part of the panel away from the door will prevent the panel clips from scratching the door paint. _________________ -Kent (BaT "daleallen")

I want to put these trim rings on but am wondering if the wheel weights get in the way of the rings? _________________ 1967 Lotus White Beetle |

Wheel weights should not get in the way of trim rings. Not factory, or repops anyway. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Does this crack in the back of the manifold look like a problem? It didnt appear to be affecting anything...
In the next pic is the heat riser "normal" or more clogged than it should be? I hope i get a good camera for fathers day...

not real sure how a manifold is put together but the aluminum i thought was to hold all the steel tubing together....If so that crack could be a big problem....i have a 1500 that I have tried giving away here on the classifieds but still here if you end up needing a manifold let me you can have it next to nothing |

As long as it's already apart, I guess if it was mine I'd be looking for a better manifold. I don't like the looks of the crack, and I'd want the heat riser tubes clearer.... _________________ '64 Bahama Blue Beetle / steel sunroof

This means you have the wrong oil breather/filler setup to use with those small lower tin pieces.
