Hi everyone
Have just picked up a 1988 westy. Looking to do a tune up on it. What is everyone using for plugs. Are many of you changing the dist on these newer westy's and also better spark plug wires.
Any links on how to flush the radiator and install a new speedometer cable would be appreciated
Cheers

Put good quality stuff in there. Don't skimp. Bosch or othewise is good stuff. DO NOT BUY FROM A VW DEALER unless you wanna pay triple. I found Importauthority to be excellent overnites me the stuff and its good quality and prices are excellent |

Good plan about replacing the wires. Most of mine have been shot after 15 years. do you mean the distributor or the cap? Yes for the cap and rotor. There is no other distributor that will work with this car. Nor do you need to look for one. They are completely up to the needs of this engine. Not to say it's not a good engine, I like them. (I've had 4, only broke 1, but it's run now for 50k miles and still goes over 90.)

What a coincidence - my wife and I just bought an '88 Westy (in Calgary) as well! Welcome to the club
Montgomery Auto Parts over in Bowness is a good source of OEM VW parts, and are usually a bit less expensive than the local VW dealers.
