Since this Bus is so nice and original, I think it would be good for you to start a new thread for it to show it off. Please. Smile

jesus that's a sweet bus - yes, please - start a dedicated thread and any time you take something apart, document the hell out of it for the rest of us! Smile

photoshoots are great, but all those little details are the goldmine! dont forget the overspray. :p

thanks for sharing!

Killer bus, that was a helluva find. Is that mud on the inside of the windows in the before picture?

It was orange spray paint. He painted all the windows orange from the inside because he stored his Harley parts in it and didn't want anyone to see them. Sucks but it actually helped in keeping all my interior panels from getting sun faded.

Last week but made new wood for my Double Cab hoops.

It's Oak, not Ash like original (the shame!) because I was lazy and hit up Lowe's for whatever they had in stock.
Ends patterned after my OG single cab wood I have from years ago

Skim that is a great cleaning job, what did you use a power washer? If so what was the psi? Any solution added?

I just ran through the car wash then CLR scrubbed it down with a green scotch brite pad. The top of the roof I repainted and blended some spots with correct color code cans from Tower Paints.

Continued the 'back to black' conversion on my truck. NOS black VW bases and SWF blades, but I recycled the silver arms and just painted those.

Did the window latches last month. Feels a bit more business like now.

I did the same to my '62 DC recently, changing out chrome/silver for the proper, commercial specialties. I ended up painting the wiper components, while refurbishing a set of OG black vent wing latches. Oddly, I have a complete set of NOS wiper bases, arms, and blades that I could not get myself to unpackaged, let alone install haha. Looking good, though, man. Love the "back to black."

Already needed to disassemble, clean and re-grease the gears of my bus speedometer, a 4/62 DC with correct 4.62 speedo, so I decided to repaint the inner face disc and partially clean up the rest without damaging the print. Turned out pretty damn good for a daily driver.

I posted and immediately deleted it, in remembrance that I saw the needed information somewhere but could not recall where, until again, I decided “Hey, look in the FAQ’s”, sure enough page 3/4 had my answer on the Floor Pan Replacement tab...
I’ll scurry in shame for my newbie-ness.
Thank you Mandraks.

So, not only has my hearing been deteriorating 'cause of the "kool" but LOUD sound of the sidewinder MONDO muffler, but also after 8 years so many miles, the "bling" is long gone. Sad

Been wanting to replace it with a less noisy one for some time and this past Saturday decided to dive into it so I went looking for a suitable choice. After looking at NAPA, peep boys and O'grylies, walked from O'grylies' parking lot to AutoZone (yes, in Chula Juana they are right next to each other! Shocked ), there not only did I find THE muffler to have but it was sitting right there on the shelf!!! Surprised

This tiny muffler is perfect! About 10" long, 8" or so wide and less than 3" tall, WOW! Check out the YUGE difference! Razz

Using parts from my other contraption, I came up with this:

Much better tucked in than the MONDO! Smile

But wait! That's not all! Now I don't have to drop the muffler to do the valves! Dancing
