I recently bought a Sunbrella tilt cover, because the canvas ones are unavailable, at least here in the States. One of the issues with the lighter material is that it wants to flap when you drive with the rear section rolled up. My hackaround was to install some Pinzgauer tie-downs, which are the exact same dimensions as the OG VW tie downs, onto the rear hoop, so I can strap down the sides. I've pop-riveted them for now, since this is a proof-of-concept; if it works out I'll braze them on.

It's been called several things, like "mohair" or "nap cloth"

Sometimes it's not what you do for your bus, but what you have to pay someone else to do for it. I dropped in to check on the interior work, and they're almost done with the headliner. There's a couple of small issues that will need to be rectified (like the B pillar dent), but at this point I just want to get this thing done. 99% of the general populace wouldn't know better, and 80% of the bus people probably wouldn't either. There's probably mistakes in it that I don't know about.

Last weekend I had to do the rear brakes; one of the wheel cylinders was leaking. During the course of the cleanup, I discovered that one of the shoes was delaminating, too. Luckily I still have a small inventory of this stuff on-hand. I originally installed these in 2007.

Broke it. Sad

Haven't had a chance to run it for a few weeks, so took it out for a decent run. It was running great, until it wasn't.

started cutting out when I slowed to idle speeds, and then the starter took a dump. Thought it might be the battery or alternator, but my Mrs drove over with a spare battery and multimeter. Both batteries are at 13.5V. it just barely cranks a fraction then gives up.

Currently waiting for recovery.

Knew I should have stayed in bed this morning. Confused

My '65 Standard got new tires. Off with the old. Got over 70,000 miles out of the old Michelin Agilis.

Curious…big nut, small nut transmission
My axle nut measures 38 mm.
Not 36 or 42 mm.
Is the 36 mm considered a small nut?
Cheers!

That's funny because more than once has a child been hypnotized by it. One toddler pulled it off and got grease on his hand. I had to use some Coleman Fuel to get it off for his mother.

Or, think of it as shin-guards for the parts under your bus! Will come in handy when you take the deluxe on the Shasta run...

I have one for my deluxe, but when I went to install it, I said to myself "Ok, are you *really* going to tow anything? Or are just going to bang your shins on this thing?"

I made my apron less red. I thought light grey was hiding under the red but it was just another coat of paint. Turkis is hiding under that…
