Thanks to all, Im sure my little car is really appreciating being back on the road and going for some long trips regularly, and like I said to some people who are frightened driving their car more than five miles from home, if she can do it, your car can surely do it !
but still even today there is still some persons ready to cut it up, pretexting than there is more money in the parts than the car itself. those are the one who are killing the hobby and the passion...
Last addition, some bosch yellow lenses :

Never saw this thread when it was made, but the first 2 pages I was getting so sad because so many people said to cut it up. So glad you kept it, it looks awesome!! You made the right decision!!! _________________ 1974 Standard Beetle - Slammed

Cruise to the Palomar observatory, the 36 horse made it ! |
This picture speaks a thousand words. It makes me so happy that you kept it and brought her back to life. The whole time reading your thread and seeing the pictures I just kept thinking "please don't cut it up! It's not THAT bad!" And "how awesome would this little bug be back on the road and driving again?" And now to see it cruising around and you enjoying the hell out of it is just plain awesome! Oh and I had no idea about your car back at the 2010 classic, that's my friend mike's fridolin parked right behind ya! Congrats on the "build"!!! _________________ my first bug 66' build:

I could suggest a tire size, but my vote is to go back to the original spindles. I was sad to see it get lowered. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

I am not trying to stir the pot up here, but I read through all these pages and people would be singing a different tune if it were a split or a barndoor bus.
I have a friend who is a body guy and he is fixing a car similar to the damage to this one and it is a 63 rag. He also did similar work to his own 23 window he bought.
Time and patience and a little know how or desire to learn how.
I personally like to run 135r15's on my 60 euro and it is down on its pan. You might want to run 145's if all you have is 2 1/2 drop spindles, but do you plan on changing the wheels anytime soon? Cause then you might want to think about some other choices.
Love the car, looks cool and congrats on your trophies! |

I like the black decklid, goes with the theme of the car and shows that at least one panel/part was probably replaced. _________________ John Henry
