The white roofs are pretty darn close to, if not specifically, "Pastel White (L90D) [R1]". But, as you are well aware, most white tops get so chalky they look whiter (until you pop the top and look where the sun hasn't faded it for 25 years).

The pop tops from the factory were single stage paints, hence the chalk over the years.

i rather have single stage become chaulky that that damn clear coat system paint where the clear peels off, damn horrible paint system, seem way too many failures, looks a lot worse than chaulked paint, and it cant be buffed out. the inventor of clear coat paints shpuld be dipped in a vat of that clear coat, and baked till crispy!!

That seems to be a silver colour whereas for transporters a dull grey was used. I think the colour is different than other Vanagons.

It'd be best, at this point, if you could provide a photo.

Well, maybe that IS it. Looking through the (European) brochure I have it appears the hubcaps only came painted or chrome. I only see one paint colour as well. It is hard to tell if it is different than the wheel colour in the brochure, to my eye it looks a bit darker:

Here are what I think are original hubcaps on my painted (incorrect colour) wheels. Not sure if that chip shows primer or a previous (original?) paint but I got these off another DoKA that came from Germany.

Okay, I did some more digging and can't believe I overlooked this. Embarassed Here are the (consumer-market) colors for T3 wheels:

Chrome-colored (L091)
Brilliant Silver Metallic (L7ZV, and possibly L815)
Silver (code unknown)
Black (L041)
Rally Black (L03C)
Aluminum Silver Metallic (LY7M)
White (code unknown)
Chrome

The center cap you have pictured does indeed come from VW primered; also chrome-plated, or "silver". No paint code is listed for "silver" (naturally Mad ).

The 1984-1991 wheel cap is Brilliant Silver Metallic (there is also a two-tone version: Brilliant Silver with Rally Black). The '90s South African version for the Volksiebus is listed as coming in Aluminum Silver (paint code not listed, so went with the closest thing in the paint catalog) and White (which white is unknown).

The early '80s "basket weave" wheel cover is "chrome-colored", while the Mercedes-like Wolfsburg wheel cover is chrome-plated.

The T3 alloy wheels are all "chrome-colored".

The steel wheels are either "chrome-colored" or Black.

Anyone know if there's a code for the very-light-grey roof paint on the '91 Vanagon GL / Campers with LP7Y flash silver paint?

It's not the white used on other colorways — when we had the top off to do the tent ~5 years ago, there was an observable grey paint shoreline against the underlying white fiberglass somewhere on the underside.

100% confident that the roof hasn't been repainted either.

Been trying to figure out how to source touch-up paint for the roof for ages, and so far, no cigar.

Based on a Google search, L239 is Enzianblau (Enzian Blue). Another code, which is more common, for the name Enzianblau is L51B, but no confirmation it uses the exact same paint mix as L239; the L51B code was used in the '70s.

Enzianblau must have been a special-order color (aka Sonderlackierungen) for the 1986 model year in Europe, hence not readily finding it. Just found a pile of special-order colors for '87, but Enzianblau is not one of them. Confused

Enzianblau (L51B) Beetle for comparison:

No factory paint codes for any of the Westfalia roofs, AFAIK, only names as noted on the first page. For yours, it would be Cloud Gray.

It's listed on page 1, under Gray & Silver:

L091

Almost all of VW's silver alloy wheels of the '80s/'90s are ^that color code, including yours.

Does anyone know what the color code for my vehicle is? I assumed it was LH8U based on my sticker but when I applied the paint from one of the markers in a small spot, it was much brighter than the paint on the vehicle.

I’m wondering if maybe I’m looking at the wrong sticker or if anyone knows what color my 85 weekender conversion is?

If so would paintscratch.com (recommended by GoWesty.com) is the best place to go for paint for roughly 30+ tiny touch ups.

Thanks!

Jordan

Bronze Beige Metallic (LH8U as the sticker shows)

It's possible the paint wasn't mixed correctly, but there's also the possibility that your van's paint has faded and/or was re-painted at some point. Apply the touch-up paint to an index card and hold the card next to an original paint section that hasn't seen the sun: door jambs, under the dash, clean engine bay, etc. If the sample matches, the exterior has undergone a change, be it by Mother Nature, or a previous owner.
