Saw this on YouTube this morning and thought I'd share. I'm not sure what to make of it really. The preview is a little weird.

Here's the info from the sidebar in the video:
"Yes, in Bass Ackwards, a man drives a 76 Volkswagen van across America. No, the film isnt mired with the tired mechanics of a typical road movie. This utterly original, lyrical, and visually exciting adventure has such a light touch that it quietly sneaks up and tugs you into an overpowering appreciation of being human.

When humble Linas, kicked off of his friends couch and spurned by his lover, finds a forgotten van on a llama farm outside Seattle, he begins lurching east with nothing to lose. Slowly, the road eases him out of his relentless longing and into the moment. As his encounters with enigmatic characters take on subtly transcendent qualities, his shame and discomfort at being alone gradually give way to self-acceptance and connection. The dented, off-kilter vehicle, which valiantly, amazingly endures the journey, becomes a colorful metaphor for the human condition—our tenacity and hopefulness always tinged with imperfection."

Sounds cool Cool

I'd say within the last few weeks. It's only on Sundance Films which is good beacuse you can never seem to see them all until one or two of them blows up and goes mainstream ("Little Miss Sunshine", "500 Days Of Summer" etc) and the others get cast aside. I'm have a hard time with the $4 rental fee for ONLY 48 hours though.

I watched this last night. Its an interesting indie film and the bus gets alot of screen time and provides some comic relief. The movie is a little weird and slow but I guess the same could be said of the bus. Worth a watch IMO.

There was an article in the paper about it today, apparently it was made around here (Louisville). I want to see this now...

Well I broke down and rented it of curosity off YouTube this weekend. It was a pretty good movie except that YouTube kept pausing and loading every 5-15 minutes which really pissed me off. The movie itself was really good and the bus got lots of attention. It dosen't look or sound like it has much of it's tow hooks left though with all that scraping in and out of gas stations though! Laughing

Boring movie nothing really happens. The best part of the film was the Bus but that doesn't mean I'd ever watch it again.

Just saw this thread thanks to the latest post. The line "kicked off of his friends couch and spurned by his lover, finds a forgotten van on a llama farm outside Seattle" made me think it was a parody!

The first 10 posts are from 2010 -- the same year the movie was made. Now you can watch all 1hr 41min for free at -- http://www.imdb.com/video/hulu/vi1919654169/

I drove from coast to coast in an oil-burning Vega when I was in my late 20s, so I know what it's like to bored on a long drive, but there is no way if I were sleeping in my Bus that I would open the door to someone I didn't know. My response to "Can I get in?" would be an angry "Get lost!" Mad
