The Island Lager is nice and can't wait to try the BOUS (Beer of unusual size) from Blaine.

while not precisely a beer, this sign represents mecca for beer lovers. i am so sorry to say that anchor brewing has gone out of business. run into the ground by sapporo, anchor closed on august 1 after 127 years. liberty ale was my favorite beer for years. all beer lovers should rise each morning, face san francisco, and say thanks to fritz maytag, who started it all when he bought anchor brewing, and taught all of us what real beer tastes like. thanks, fritz. rest in peace, anchor.

Shocked Shocked
That’s tragic. That was my gateway beer to more tasty types of beer in my late teens.

I would pick on anyone else for using the term "gateway beer", but I've seen your pursuance, professionalism and dedication to drinking a lot of fucking beer. So you get a definite drunken nod my friend.

Had an Upslope New Zealand IPA while washing the green Bus tonight. I guess it's the hops that make it be a New Zealand IPA.

But because I'm not snob...

I had this next.

Brought a 12 pack of Steamworks with their Lager, Kolsh, and Hazy Pale Ale mix but J brought some high test IPAs. Decent, but heavy as you'd expect.

Just wanted to see who was awake today. You win the prize!

Edit:
Joking of course. I've had this happen a couple times getting a double post. Must be a temp loss of data/connectivity while posting and it glitches and posts twice.... or is there a better conspiracy theory?

In my case, I don't think I could create/write/post the exact same verbiage twice, even within a few seconds of the first one....

I'll delete the 2nd posting and blame it on the other party as our politicians like to do.

Cryo-stash is excellent stuff. Not near as hops-in-your-face as some other high test IPA's. It is almost sweet rather than bitter.

That is a real bummer. Like Xevin, Anchor beer was one of my stepping stones to "real" beer. The main culprit was Redhook ESB, with Anchor Porter in close second place.

EDIT: I think I have an aging bottle of Old Foghorn Barleywine in the root cellar. Gonna hafta dig for it.

Been working on the engine to go back into the '78 Bus. Had some beers while working on it.

The malt of the Oktoberfest paired well with the sweetness of the Oreos, sent by a thoughtful Samba member after I had an giant oil disaster the other day.

Bay is visible in the background.

Got another care package yesterday, and I was working on the engine for the '78, so of course I grabbed a pic!
