I'll be parking my 87 westy inside in underground garage when it gets out of the body/paint shop.. i don't want dust and other nastiness on it. any recommendations for a good one? I don't need all-weather since it's underground and i live in SoCal.
thanks! |

| since it will be indoors and thats not protection enough probably don't want a cover to touch the new pristine paint, should look at http://carcapsule.com/ make sure it has a HEPA filter or maybe use bottled filtered air to inflate the bubble. |

talk to the painter about it or look up the paint makers information on recommended time after painting before a cover should be placed on the new paint. some paints need time to fully cure before covered. some old sheets can make a decent dust cover if your on a budget.
The Tyvek car covers are really nice Budge makes them. Breathable and long lasting they are. great for out doors or indoors. _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

They are pretty good covers, but I wouldn't recommend using them for outdoors long-term. OP should be good though since he'll use it in a garage.
I actually wrote a review on this very cover here:

Hope this helps, California562!

Air? You definitely need to fill it with an inert gas to reduce oxidation of the various components. _________________ I am a high-functioning autistic into VW diesels and Vanagons along with other things that are unrelated to this site. |

I remember reading a story in the early '80's about Germans who were buying up the very last factory run of '79 Beetle convertibles and storing them away in huge vacuum sealed bags. I sometimes wonder what ever happened to those bugs. _________________ Casey--

I have used the tyvek covers outdoors for about a decade with good results year around. they reduce interior temps in the sun, more so than aluminized nylon covers (i used a thermocouple and did side by side tests ) I find the cover lasts 3 or 5 years in constatnt outdoor use. _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

That is pretty good! Do you get a lot of wind/rain? How do you tie the cover down? I'm surprised to hear your experience because mine didn't hold up as well outside. |

wind and rain, yes. after a year or two the elastic band starts to,stretch, then it gets floppy. I will close the doors over a fold in the cover to keep the wind from picking up the cover and blowing it away. _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information
