In stock again. The current batch have been balanced end for end with a tight tolerance.
New sets of these Porsche journal rods have become very hard to find or very expensive. A set of Carrillo’s are just shy of $1600.
The story behind these is a now defunct light weight helicopter company bought a batch of these and then went belly up. The rods had a larger than VW pin bushing size and the big end was ordered undersize so the owner could finish hone them him self. They also had no rod bolts.
I bought a limited number of these rods, bought some ARP 2000 rod bolts and had Brothers machine do the pin bushings and the final finish hone.
IMO Porsche journal cranks are the strongest because of the narrow journal width. DPR can make up a Porsche journal crank or there is still good used cranks out there that need this type of rod. Also IMO it has been dumb for the VW industry to go away from using the Porsche Journal, the arguments against their use does not hold water. DPR can still make cranks for these rods for now but who knows how much longer. The VW industry is contracting.
Note: This will probably be the last batch of these rods I will order as people needing these for their old Porsche journal cranks have begun to dwindle. If you want a set, don't put it off too long.
