1955-57 356A Chrome lightalloy cylindr paperweight Price: $40
|
This is a 1955-57 Porsche 1600N cylinder, light alloy with chromed surface. Sadly it suffered damage. These are easily one of the prettiest parts of the early engines. Apparently the fins were machine turned, like a billet. this would be a great paper weight or decorative piece from a bygone era. I've done some cleanup on it, but it would benefit from more cleaning. polishing would take it to higher level.
Last picture shows this next to a Biral cylinder (Bi =two, ir = iron, al = aluminum) of 356SC/ 912 vintage. Not nearly as pretty as the early part.
