I really like your sporty boat. What prompted the change from an electric motor to a gasser or is this a different boat?

Thanks Jim! This is the same boat but now it has a 20hp Suzuki gas motor. The Epropulsion did seem to work fine, the boat would get up on plane and go about 16mph. I wanted to go faster, with the new motor I can go about 30mph.

My wife and I needed to take a break, so we decided to do a little Unsuperbowl camping. We managed to score a site by the shore at Fort Casey, WA (Whidbey Island, Puget Sound) and had a great weekend. The fort has lots of old buildings and we spent a lot of time exploring.

Saturday the weather was great, fairly chilly but no rain or wind - our recently installed Webasto heater worked great (used it just before going to bed and early in the morning while preparing breakfast). Going to bed and waking up hearing the waves breaking by the van was exactly what we needed!

On Sunday, we woke with the sound of a morning ferry to Port Townsend.

The weather was a lot nastier on Sunday (rain and winds up to 20 mph winds), allowing for some very nice stormy pictures.

What is this little tent atop your lovely van? I have a sunroof van and have been drawing up ideas for a little tent to keep out the spring rains and summer bugs.

Tent for stand up camping.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.
Discovered this online as I was looking for a pup tent I could use over the roof hole when we were at the camp site. Well, what if you want to go down to the country store a half mile away and get their coffee and a pastry? Took it out for a test drive. 25 MPH OK. 30, didn't like it, but still OK for very short distance. 35? sticks and canvas all over the inside and serious flapping until I could slow down. OK, that's not too bad.

Here is the story on this puppy--pun intended. Available from a company in FINLAND. FINLAND??? Forgedabboudit. But then I read a little more. $52 plus $9.95 flat rate air shipping.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.
So I sprung for it. Didn't need it immediately and there were plenty of self inflected clean-ups that could fitted in before it arrived.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.
HOLEY MOLEY!!!!! Look at the top line. Ordered March 23rd, estimated delivery, March 26th??????? NO CHANCE!!

BUT IT DID. Came on the 26th. couldn't believe it. $62 and here in three days from FINLAND, no less. Got about 20 hours in cutting it down although truthfully it didn't need it. Wouldda been pretty tall, but the "floor" was exactly the right size. On for fitting, off for sewing, on for.......and so on for a gillion times. Need about another 4 hrs of sewing and three ish for the brackets which stick out from the roof rack pipes to hold the sides out. Added a lot more screening as it got hot in the top with direct sun. Another reason not to cut it down. Oh, well.

Hitch mount bike racks work perfectly for mounting and carrying things.

Here is another one for longer trips when we don't pull the trailer.
