Nothing sounds more badder-ass than a 1776 with a set of Kadrons, a stinger, and a set of straight cuts. Wink

Shoot, muffler aside, that's my combo right there... Embarassed Wink In all honesty, while I do like the sound of my Magnums, I also bought mine with the anticipation of future upgrades...

I like to use straight cut gears in stock motors. When I rebuild peoples stock motors I put Counter weighted cranks and straight cut gears and Double Thrust Cam Bearings. In my own opinion I feel this makes for a better stock motor, things that cause less wear...

For high performance do what you want to do. I would always put the straight cut in unless told not to by the customer..

I generally can't hear any sounds that are behind my car, so run whatever you like Wink

Seriously... run what you like. The only you you need to please is yourself.

Herr Ring does not need such things to improve the sound of his engine.

not sure, just what i was thinking. what is greater loss, the noise or the friction of the side load on helical gears?
I'm in favor of them by the way, I just make them quiet.

How? offset cam bearings.one more secret out the bag for you, must be .5 hp there.

Put them in my street 2017. I did however buy the less noisy CB's. I really can't hear them that much from the drivers seat. Whe you rebuild why not improve it? If it gives me a few extra ponies and will let the valve train rev easier for not a bunch of money then why not. I looked at it this way. I did not go with light lifters so taking friction away may equal it out. My little stroker really revs well and it needs some tuning yet. the sound is more of a whining at idle and that is about it. I really don't notice much on my however just a hint. So if noise is loss of HP then the CB's must be the best?

I mean lets face it. With a merged Header and a big Dynomax hanging out back you can't tell much of a difference from one noisy thing to the other. If you want quiet you are into the wrong cars. Go to a Lexus forum or something.
