Got the doors painted monday and mounted today 
I managed to get all the rubbers/ scrapers/ windows installed in the driver's door. Also installed my new $30 retractable seat belts

Got the motor in yesterday, and my carbs installed today  (sorry, crappy ipod pic)
Also, I saw this decal and had to get it, lol

Well, after months of hard work, and the past few weeks waiting on parts and surviving hurricane Sandy, I finally took my car for her first real drive to pick up my girlfriend. It felt completely surreal driving her down the road again. The strangest part was, despite a smoother ride and a little more vulnerability to wind, she felt the same as always. A feeling I've never felt behind the wheel of any other car, it just feels right.

| YEAH MAN THATS AWESOME WORK...!!! My six9er is a real pan scraper. 6" narrowed beam whole car sets about an inch to an inch and a half off the ground.... real fun ride..!!! (NOT)... LOL |

I got my stereo mounted under my dash last tuesday (also notice fuzzy dice  )
since I didn't have any speakers, I felt the need to build myself a rear speaker shelf...
I found a piece of scrap plywood lying around and made it into this:
I covered it with some "headliner material" I had left over from making door panels for my bus
eventually I want to cover that with vinyl.
Hooked up the radio this morning, sound pretty good. I'm probably going to have to throw some soundproofing on the luggage tray to cut the engine noise. No stations, cause I don't have an antenna, but It's got an ipod hook up, so that's all I'll need.
But the most awesome update of all would have to be that she is now inspected and on the road! Super fun to drive... gets loads to looks around town. I've taken it to work a couple times. My co-workers think I'm crazy cause I show up in a different vehicle all the time: '71 Bus, Dad's Karmann ghia, corolla (now traded for scion xb), moped , other moped, and now my bug 
I know what I'll be driving daily this summer though
Also, note about those drop spindles... I bought some. They're not on the car now though. When we tried to install them, we realized that the "lowered" shocks we have on there now don't allow for any adjustment of the beam. With the beam all the way down, and spindle installed the tire sereously rubs. So no, no drop spindles on the car.
For now I'm just going to enjoy the car, drive it as is. The next thing on my list will probably be to re-do the interior, but I'll have to do some saving for that. |

Sorry, I don't have them. It was really easy to make though... All you have to do is take the measurements from the luggage shelf. The width of the space below the rear window, the width of the seat back, and distance from the seat back to the firewall are all you need. The side edges are just bulged out a bit to fit the side contours. Hope that helps!
