Another part done

Used a tipping die in the bead roller to start the lip. Shrinker and hammer/dolly to finish. It did straighten it slightly so made a wood die and pressed a few spots to get the curve back.

Made a pattern off my 64 that includes the A pillars. Pillar position is very important to get correct .Also made a drawing to create a flat pattern.

Cut out the panel and added the two bends. Used my new stretcher to create the curve to match the pattern. Added the end bends with a press and stretched the flange to get correct angle.

Next I will use a tipping die in the bead roller to add the lips

Started on the front valance. Didn't have much to go by. I recieved some drawings of NOS brackets. They were quite different from mine. Many photos I looked at were different. From the original bits I had, drawings, photos and my 64 I am quite confident in my drawings except the inner reinforcement dimensions are probably not exact.

Something I didn't notice before was the 1.5 mm step down on the front frame. My original rusted frame bit had it. Oddly my 64 also has the step.

Got the brackets started and they fit nice.

Wheel wells finally done. That was a lot of work.

I made electrodes for the spot welder. The 8 mm copper is easy to shape for hard to get spots. I need to make a short set of bars as the long ones are a little awkward.

My spot welder is not heavy enough for this so could only do 2 or 3 welds at a time between cool downs.

I knotched some hardwood to roll the lip and it worked very nice.

Got my shrinker/stretcher. Works great. It has fine teeth so doesn't leave much of a mark.

Flattened the top panels that were warped badly. Fitted and tacked in the left side. It will need a slight shrink on the outside edge after but very happy with how they are coming along.

Yes I do need to make a thread here Smile I just need chassis measurements as its in sections. Front holes to rear positions so I can get it bolted down for welding back together.

Looking forward to seeing it. I didn't notice a thread here on it yet... Smile

I have a set of frame jig drawings that I made and didn't use. I will check them for accuracy and upload to Grabcad when I get a chance.

Bit more done. I ordered a shrinker/stretcher. I was going to need one eventually and it will make this job easier

Impressive work (again!), on that X-panel. I admire your precision and dedication on this massive restoration.

Pressed in the X

I printed a new die and it did a much nicer job. Still needs quite a bit of tidying and shrinking on the edge. All the issues can be fixed with a little time.

Happy with how it is coming along. Hardest part done anyway.

I like Klassic Fab parts very much, but Stan is really making every part he works on perfect. This bus is looking great!
Thank You for sharing with us Stan.

These wheel wells are taking some time.

Started patching the easy part. Slow work to get everything perfect.

Got the difficult section of top ribs ruffed in. Combination of bead roller and press. Came out quite good but needs a bit more work to make them nice and smooth. Also needs some shrinking on the end.

Experimenting with pressing the fender X. 3D printed dies but I need to make some adjustments to the shape and print them solid. Also I need to pre stretch the steel before pressing to prevent warping.

So I believe this will work great with some adjustments.
