Thank you.
I now have the bolts for the upper hinges and have welded on the first mirror arm. Now I can align the door exactly and fit the dogleg

Thanks,
Yes. I definitely didn't want stainless steel repro arms. Also, the bolt had to be thicker because the hinge had a lot of play _________________ my current challenge

Hello everyone,
less happens in winter. It's too cold for me in the workshop. Everything you touch is freezing cold. Also had a job on another car in a smaller garage, not quite as cold.
I've managed something but haven't posted it yet. I found an engine lid in the summer. I was missing it.
I removed the blue paint and repaired a piece for the bracket.
I welded in the holder for the engine lid in the engine compartment.
I had to adjust the bottom left corner again. A bit of welding and it warps a little. Since I didn't have an engine lid, I didn't notice it

I assume you turned these on a lathe and weld them to your original arms.
Did you heat treat them? Curious why the one is purple/blue. _________________ WANTED:

Yes, I have hardened the lower part. I don't know if it does any good, but it can't do any harm either. The edge was also not yet rounded _________________ my current challenge

I welded in the first dogleg. It took quite a beating. It's too round. But it now fits the character of the bus.
There was a missing material on the inside and the sealing bed was too short, so I put in a few patches.
The passenger side still needs more beating _________________ my current challenge

I am envious of your metal working abilities I have learned quite a bit from your detailed pics. I am getting better at it but nowhere near this level. Keep posting your progress its appreciated! Once my 11 window is on the road I will use what I’ve learned from that and threads like this to start on my 23 window. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

@Fleetline15
I already have a small collection
@pondoras box
Thank you for the kind words.
I am also learning a lot in this forum, looking left and right at what other members are doing. That's the nice thing. You find ideas, tricks, information and motivation. If others find that in my thread, .... great _________________ my current challenge

A small repair in between. I replaced the lower part of my handbrake lever and saved the part. Works perfectly again and was a nice job

Next I made 2 plates that still belong to the front frame. The deflection for the gas cable will come later. Now the holder for the handbrake has to be fitted and the heating pipes can go back in place
Can anyone confirm that the bracket is welded from above at the marked points?
