Okay, let's say for a moment as devil's advocate that EMPI is cranking out some decent parts now... are they still assholes about customer service? Because in the recent past complaints filed to them about a product issue immediately received a "go bitch to your dealer" reply, and I know that there are those in the industry that have received similar feedback.

I really could care less if somebody's well known car has EMPI internals; I'm happy for them, don't get me wrong, if their parts are working for them, but EMPI's train-wreck customer service is another part of this equation. I've had enough bad experiences that they would have to kiss my ass pretty hard to convince me to buy any of their major parts, like rods, cranks, etc.

I love how people are arguing with something that i'm not disagreeing with at all. LOL

Eric, if you're feeling left out, I'm sure we can find something you do disagree with. Laughing

I'm sorry, Eric, in hindsight I guess I wasn't really looking at the big picture... no extranneous argument intended. Embarassed Too easy to create misunderstandings on the interweb.

I'd pose this though. Why is it that you pay top dollar for the Weber's and the first thing you have to do is completely dismantle them and clean them out? If vaccuum cleaners were that way, would anyone buy a Hoover? Any other products that you have to tear apart before you can use them? (Excluding EMPI products) Rolling Eyes

For the same reasons that I completely disassembled my new heads and pulled all the galley plugs on my new case and crank; there was machining crap in there. Tons of swarf, dust and this other oily crap. Oh, but it was a new part and I shouldn't have to clean the case before I use it. Confused

Lets just say, there is someone on the VW forums that has a very well known car that everyone absolutley loves, that is currently running Empi crank and rods.

And everyone compliments him on how nice his motor is too. Wink

Is it a red '74? Wink

I think they are up to Version 3.0 these days.

V 1.0 Retained the cold start assemblies in the carb body even though they were blocked off on the outside.

V 2.0 Removed and plugged cold start circuit all together

V 3.0 ?? Offset manifolds?

I thought the V2.0 serial number started with a 2, not sure if the 3.0 starts with 3.
