				| Hello, I'm french. I live near to Lille (in the North of France) and I'm coming here to introduce you my notch.
I have bought it one year ago. I have found it in a classified ad but the seller made a mistake, fortunately for me, he put his ad in the motorcycle section.
The seller has sold it for his grandfather.
It's a july of 1965 model, first hand, 22000kms when bought, with all documents and it's a full option model (for France).
I was as a child the day I went to take it off his house.
It was in his garage from 1982 but the owner has taken the battery off.

Once there my friend and me have discovered a really clean car (I have paid an accoumpt without seeing the car). Just a little bit of rust, a perfect floor and an awesome condition when we know that Abbeville (the town where it was stored) is at only few kms from the sea.

With my english I prefer to show you the pictures of the car.

 During the D day...

				| I drive it as soon as I can now. I have fitted a TMI kit, a 4 in 1 exhaust
 I really enjoy it

I have other lovely cars (track day Mazda RX7 twin turbo and Toyota Celica TA40 1979) but my notch would be the last car I would like to sell in the case I should have no choice...

I hope to keep it as long as possible

I recycle old cars and parts, other than when I rot, that's as Green as I am going to get.

Thanks to my Tesla driving neighbors, I feel more relaxed driving my SUBURBAN and old VW's.

 Everything sounds good on paper!

				| Thanks for your words.
For the Dashboard plastics I have used silicone spray, it seems to give a good result.
For the chassis parts, WD40 is my best friend

It's not possible to see it on the last pics but I have cleaned all the interior with "Cif" (a very popular product to clean kitchen here) and it's now as new.

The Esso Tiger advertisment gift was in the car when bought and also the oil drain tickets... I have kept them in their place. I only had put some stickers on the glovze box panel but all the rest of the car is the same from 1965

I will try to do a complete shooting as soon as sun will come back.

				| Excellent car and story. Did you ever get to speak to the grandfather about why he parked such a nice car for 30 years?
Also, is it a French law that all Type 1's and 2's must be slammed or is that just how the guys in your club do things?

The grandfather has tried to sell it in the 90ies, but it was not a popular model at this moment.
He told me that he has proposed to give it to the local VW dealer and they didn't want it...WTF!!!!

For the slammed cars, it's not a law but in fact, you're right, a lot of french vws are slammed.
In my case, I have made it only because I really like it and roads have a better quality than in 1965 ...
In fact I have only slammed the front to give a little "Pro Street" look.

				| Beautiful Notch and truly a great find with a story behind it. I'm sure if you took it back to the grandfather and he saw it, he'd reminisce about the times he enjoyed driving it and want it back . You did a great job in cleaning it up. Welcome, enjoy your rides and thanks for sharing. Look forward to more posts featuring your special car. _________________
