morimoto is excellent stuff. I've used them in some $1200 lights. Not sure about these, thats a lof of extra on the back. There's a guy here that sells good vintage LED's that look more original and I'd imagine will fit better than those _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

I went with LED bulbs because I wanted the option to replace faulty bulbs without replacing the housing, and I can use multi-color bulbs. I have Euro headlights.
H4 Hella housings with good LED bulbs are very satisfactory for a bus. I used this combo in my Vanagon.

The goodness of a headlight is mostly in the pattern, so check it before buying. A good LED bulb will retain the E-code pattern of a Hella housing.
I also have these and like the pattern and output a lot. Be your own judge when deciding how these will look in a vintage vehicle:

I think the vintage led 3500 model with Hella lens seems like the best option for me.
OE lens with the light color not too white like a modern car, but much brighter _________________

Yep, just figured maybe they could be an option. But, if a guy wants LED, these aren't it. _________________ You can't spell sausage without "USA"! |

there are so many available - so, no I won't. They run from very cheap to very expensive. What's good for one lens won't be good for another. Look for a bulb that you can twist and change the pattern as needed, those you can usually make work well. Or buy from the guy that figured it out and sells here in the classifieds. Thanks, that's me!
Yes, the Holley lights are GOOD, and work well.
They are double the price of ours, and feature a plastic lens (ours are glass) _________________ www.vintagecarleds.com

Mini-review: Thanks to a nudge from Amazon Prime, I decided to pull the trigger on a set of the Xprite's recommended by MrPolak.

So far, I'm impressed. In spite of the fact that they are marketed to the Jeep/Hummer crowd, they fit perfectly in the stock housings on my 65 bus. Zero tweaking required. They plug straight into the stock wiring connector, but you have to be a bit creative to stuff the connector at the back of the housing since it's on a dongle.
Beam pattern is even, with a sharp cutoff at the top so you don't blind folks. And compared to the bottom of the line Wagner bulbs I had, these things are BRIGHT! I also like that when off, they don't give the bus too much of a sci-fi alien look. Picture below are off, low beam, high beam. There is also a separate wire for DRLs, which only lights the halo (visible in the low beam pic), but I haven't connected that yet.

Let us know if they obliterate your radio reception - my LED headlights completely drown out all radio sations with static.
Yes, some of us still listen to a radio. Especially since my bluetooth dongle has worse interference from LED lights! _________________ Craig K
