Restored/rebuilt German Pierburg fuel pumps Price: $155 and up
|
These German Pierburg fuel pumps are fully rebuilt and restored. They are rebuilt using brand new and correct OE Effbe diaphragms.
Each fuel pump is fully disassembled. All the parts are cleaned spotless in a large industrial parts cleaner. All the fuel pumps steel hard parts are inspected for wear. Any worn part is replaced. These steel parts are then stripped of their old zinc plating. They are then bright zinc plated to protect them from corrosion for decades to come. The screws and covers are also coated in gold Chromate on request. Some NOS Pierburg fuel pumps had gold chromated screws and covers and others were just bright zinc plated. The mating/sealing surfaces are flattened and leveled on a milling machine. The inlet/outlet valves are removed and then resealed on the dome top, square top and type 4 fuel pumps. The 36HP fuel pumps have new valves and springs installed. The aluminum bodies are closely inspected to include each rocker bore and are then media blasted with a fine media to remove oxidation and stains. This cleans the bodies and makes the finish look new. The lower main diaphragm assembly's are pre-loaded to spec per type of fuel pump using a VW factory jigs during assembly.

These fuel pumps post restoration are basically new and can last for decades if used regularly.
* The 36HP fuel pumps are $175
*The dome top fuel pumps were used on bugs from 1962 thru 1965. They were used on buses from 1962 through 1971. Price $155
* The Pierburg square top fuel pumps were originally installed from 1966 through 1971 on bugs, Ghias and some Type 3's running generators. Price $175
* The type 4 German Pierburg fuel pumps- Price $160
These original, restored/rebuilt German Pierburg fuel pumps are the best fuel pumps for our VW's. They put out the correct fuel pressure. The rocker pins are secured w/"C" clips (or peened on the 36HP) so they don't back out like many of the new fuel pumps sold today, leaving you on the side of the road.
I've sold many square top fuel pumps to folks running alternators. So, they do fit. You may have to lift the carb up slightly so the front carb mounting stud is out of the way. See attached pictures. Everyone stated it only takes a couple of minutes to mount these square tops with their alternator equipped engines. The dome tops fit with an alternator mounted as well.
A big issue with many of the new fuel pumps sold today is the wild variance in fuel pressure they put out depending on the brand. Everyone who bolts a new or rebuilt fuel pump on their engine should check the fuel pressure. Many new fuel pumps put out 6 psi or more. This creates all sorts of issues with the carb/carbs.
