Seattle Meetup - Oct 28, 2018 (Marymoor Park) Show and Tell

Why/What ?
Brave the elements and come out to Marymoor Park for a Westy Show and Tell Meetup. The idea for this one is to tell the group a little about your van and perhaps some of the best mods or projects that you have made. Consider bringing some comfort food (chiili, soup, etc) to help you stay warm while we meet. The meeting is right before Halloween, so everybody should have a chance to talk about Westy projects and adventures without getting frozen.

I've talked to the Marymoor Park people and we’ve been directed to meet on parking lot B by the soccer fields (same as last years' location) - see the park map at the following link.

Also, in case you don't know, parking costs $1 in the park. Please, please, please, don’t forget to pay parking, I almost got into trouble one year because some people refused to pay parking.

Background
This is the eight time we’re having this event (cannot believe we had a run this long!). We’ve had as low as 30 vans (2013) and more than 60 vans in 2014 (with 50 on 2015). In all those years everybody had a truly great time.

I hope to make it this time. I’d like to get some Gray Westy cabinet shelves, or doors. Anyone have those? I can bring extra panels of the Westy gray formica for re-facing the black Truckfridge.

I will plan to bring along some stuff for sale or give-away as well... I have some extra chrome bumpers, an extra lower grill, a perfectly good dometic fridge, a good heater core for under the rear seat, some spare rear-view mirrors, etc. With few exceptions this stuff will be free to whoever wants it.

Probably should suggest a time so people can plan better. What time is it usually hoppin’? I got there once about 1:30 and it was winding down.

Great event! $1 to park and $2000 to go buy all the new stuff i did not know i needed.

Went to the meet-up today. October might be a better month to do this rather than Nov or Dec like in other years. It was absolutely pouring down rain early in the morning, but somehow there was a 3 hour window of no rain during the meet-up. Turn out might have been sightly smaller than last year. managed to see some Samba member's rigs even the infamous "Ghost ship" that had the crazy mouse infestation. A handy chainsaw at the ready plus a super cool LT camper. At least 50% bigger than a Westy. The interior was well laid out.

My van with an insanely equipped camper next to it. Every aftermarket option you can think of and a few more added that you never thought of. It's a 2WD with a rear locker added.

Smooth bed liner lower half and top. This camper was ready to go anywhere.

Thanks to all who braved the elements! Even though it's been rainy, windy and cold all morning, the weather gave us a couple hrs reprieve, and we still had 30+ vans showing up (with a mix of Vanagon, Bays and an LT!) which I consider a great success.

My personal highlight? Early this morning I tried to bring the topic of hightops to my wife, and she absolutely rejected the idea. However, after looking inside to a couple of Westfalia hightops at the meetup, she's warming up to the idea. Thanks to both owners who gave us a tour and answered the many questions we had.
