|
|
I am looking for some guidance on this topic and am not finding much through searching.
I have a 72 type 4 buss and would like to go with fuel injection. I am looking at some complete kits off of 78 busses but I know there is a displacement difference. I also know that I will need to figure in a fuel return line to the tank. Otherwise, will it work? will I have to go with smaller injectors? Any other concerns?
Thank you. _________________ 64 Beetle

It will work fine but you should adjust the AFR once you are done installing it. Locate the aircleaner stand off a junk bus and weld it in to hold the AFM/aircleaner securely in place. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

Glad to hear this is doable. I'm going to move forward with this once I have sourced all of the components.
In another thread, I saw that someone had found what looked like a reproduction of the AFM stand. I am looking around for this but not finding it yet. Has anyone seen one of these available? I do not have access to junked busses in my area to pull one from. _________________ 64 Beetle

You will also need to cut out the rectangular slot that the ECU anchors into. |

Wasted Youth: Thanks, I'll see if I can find some pictures to detail what I need to cut. And as a side note, I spent many a years in Clovis - loved that valley oven fresh air! _________________ 64 Beetle

Rustbus did a similar conversion and had this picture which shows the ECU cut out:
And it is this shot that shows the aircleaner bracket that I am looking for. I PM'ed Rustbus to see where he got it:

That's cool! I would like to do the same thing to my 1973 bus. I was very happy with the performance of my 1977 bus when I had it.
Yeah... great air quality! |

Temp 2 sensor is easy as you just drill and tap the tin hole on #3 cylinder like stock.

If I were going to drill out one of the tin hole screw holes, I would go with the one for the #4 cylinder. Might as well make the TSII as easy to access as possible. |
